The Home Assistant development team has released version 15.1 of the Home Assistant Operating System (OS). This update brings significant improvements and bug fixes that increase the stability and compatibility of the system.
One of the outstanding new features is the update of Docker to version 28.0.4. In addition, the generic_raw_uart
and eq3_char_loop
components have been brought up to date.
For users of the Raspberry Pi 5, there have previously been isolated problems with the upgrade process. Before reporting an error in such cases, it is recommended to update the EEPROM bootloader, as this has helped solve the problem for many users. The easiest way to do this is to use a replacement SD card with the Raspberry Pi Imager and follow the relevant instructions.
Support for Mellanox ConnectX-3 network cards has been added to kernel 6.12 for the Open Virtual Appliance. In addition, the i915 driver
is now executed as a module to ensure correct initialization in the VM passthrough.
For x86-64 systems, support for AMD graphics processors of the SI and CIK series has been activated. For hard kernel ODROID devices, missing patches for the N2, C2 and C4 models have been integrated to fix problems with serial and I2C interfaces. In addition, a U-Boot patch has been moved to the correct folder to fix eMMC issues.
The update is now available for all supported platforms and can be installed in the usual ways. As always, we recommend creating a backup of the existing installation before updating.
